Visual Frictions 2

Just for another attempt I looked at photographing my sister as using her as my model to create a weird kind of yoga pose anatomy mix-up piece. I got her to do weird poses then swiveled around her head, like in the 'Exorcist' movie. This is what mainly inspired me. I chose to arrange her in a circle to reference a mandala formation as mandalas are usually signifier s of peace, and people seem to practice yoga to find peace and relax so I thought it was appropriate.

I was particularly inspired by my favourite artist of all time, Rene Magritte and his piece 'Rape'. Although it a somewhat crude representation of the face, I was mainly concerned with replacing certain body parts with others that clearly weren't meant to be there but strangely enough look familiar. On WORTH1000.com I chose the anatomy mix-up option. I played around with the scanner and placed belly-buttons over my face a lot. I used burning and different blending modes and masks to help blend the belly buttons into the face. The most difficult part was lying on the scanner and trying not to break it with my weight...and im no gymnast!

Bat Movie Sketches

I looked at the work of animation artists that were shown in the lecture. I particularly liked the movie with the girl and the evil tree that looked quite old, cinematic and antique. I wanted to copy the look of an old movie like the artists one by using manila paper as the background for my film. I like the idea of using silhouettes also and utilised this in the animation of my bats.For the illustration of my clouds, I drew inspiration from 'Cumulus Inc' business card.
